HARPER ADAMS UNIVERSITY is the leading university in the country for rural and land based higher education. The 8 main subject areas are agriculture - engineering - animal studies -business and agriculture food - countryside environment - wildlife and geography - food studies - rural enterprise, property & land management REALM - veterinary related studies.

Jason Hilliard, Head Butcher at the university, runs a busy department within the catering unit. Monday to Friday, 400 first year residential students are provided with a full English breakfast, choice of a healthy, balanced lunch and dinner all prepared on site. The 3 busy cafes on campus are also supplied by the catering and butchery departments.

Where possible the meat and dairy products are sourced from the farms also on the campus, following the universities ethos to use local and sustainable sources wherever possible, however, the sheer quantity of products required has led Jason to source some of his meat and poultry from Tadmarton Products. For example, the meatballs which were taking Jason 6 hours to hand make was so labour intensive it made sense to outsource this product. So working with Steve Levell from Tadmarton Products, Jason has been able to utilise a reliable and high quality source of alternative products.

The university also host various conferences and societies including the Beekeepers Association, Poetry Society and weddings, which are all catered for by the in house departments, making them a very busy, and highly sought after event venue.
